Moncef Marzouki, a human rights activist, who lived in exile for the last decade, and a current prominent opposition leader, has entered the position of president of Tunisia, a mainly ceremonial role.
Marzouki is planned to serve in this position for the next year, as Tunisia's future constitution will be drafted (hebrew link; english translation here).
Hard to believe, but it was less than a year ago, when the former president fled. For the people fighting for their liberty, this is a moment of triumph and inspiration. Tyrants can be beaten. Alliances can be formed. Change can be brought.
